Cleaning: A Great Way to Fill Your Fitness Buckets!
One of my LEAST favorite things to do is clean my house.
I’m just not very good at it.
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE having everything tidy and organized.
But I’ve always thought there’s a million other things that I could be doing with my time, especially when there are a ton of boxes that need to be checked off my list.
I like to refer to all the things that are important in my life (wellness, fitness, mental health) as value buckets.
I like my “clean house” value bucket to be checked off, but I hate putting in the work myself.
However, I don’t currently have a cleaner right now.
In fact, I haven’t had one for months.
So, I spent a few hours on a Saturday afternoon cleaning up. I vacuumed, mopped, and wiped down the counters.
💡 Then I had a lightbulb moment.
I realized cleaning my house checked off ALL my value buckets.
I was sweating buckets, burning calories, and boosting my metabolism.
So hello, checked off my fitness bucket.
Then I threw on some good tunes and REALLY got into the zone.
Before I knew it, I was completely lost in my thoughts. My mind was at ease!
Boom, another value bucket checked off.
Then of course when you’re all finished, you just feel so dang good. I don’t know about you, but when my home is feeling organized, my mind feels it even more!
ANOTHER value bucket checked off.
All this time I’ve been putting off cleaning my house because I thought it didn’t check off any of my buckets, yet here I am, with a clean house and ALL of my buckets have been checked off!
Now I’ve actually built in “housekeeping” into my wellness plan.
The same goes for your fitness and nutrition goals!
If you’ve been pushing any of it off because you simply believe you’re not good at it, or there’s a million other things you could be doing instead, I challenge you to check off those value buckets this week and see how you’re feeling.
