Eating to support your goals does NOT have to mean giving up your favorite treats.
It just means we need to get creative with finding nutritious and delicious ways to have those treats!
Our “Protein Ice Cream” checks the box, especially on a hot summer day. It’s super simple, and best of all, completely supports your health and fitness goals.
We make our clean ice-cream essentially just like we were making a protein smoothie, but reduce the liquid and add lots of crushed ice, and voila – you’ve got ice cream to feel good about!
Why protein?
Adding our favorite quality protein powder helps to:
- maintain muscle growth and recovery
- balance blood-sugars and reduce cravings
- foster thermogenesis for weight loss
- support hormone and neurotransmitter production (yes, hormones and happy brain chemicals rely on adequate protein intake too!)
Pina Colada Protein Ice Cream
Our special, not-so-secret ingredient in this classic fav – turmeric! Great anti-inflammatory benefits to support your active lifestyle, and it makes this high protein dessert bright, sunny yellow – my favorite color!
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- 3 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks (frozen or fresh)
- 1 tsp turmeric (optional)
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- Blend all ingredients up in a high speed blender. Adjust crushed ice or coconut milk as needed for desired consistency.
No turmeric, no problem! Enjoy a classic pina colada without the turmeric.
Chocolate Lover’s Ice Cream
We’re all about those gains! As an active adult, whether endurance or strength athlete, you need more protein in the diet to mitigate increased protein breakdown. Adding protein powder to a dessert like ice cream is a delicious way to ensure you’re getting enough! Bonus: adding protein slows the release of sugars from the fruit, thereby reducing blood sugar spikes and supporting blood sugar balance – this means greater satiety and reduced cravings!
Variation: simply omit the mint for a creamy classic chocolate ice cream.
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1/4 cup chocolate almond milk (or substitute white almond milk with 1 tbsp cocoa powder)
- 1/2 banana (frozen, sliced (substitute 1/2 avocado))
- 1 tsp mint extract (or use fresh mint leaves)
- 1/2 cup crushed ice (adjust as needed)
- Mix all ingredients together in a blender or magic bullet. Add more almond milk or crushed ice as needed for desired consistency
Maple Walnut Ice Cream
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/4 cup Unsweetened Coconut Milk
- 2 tsp Maple Extract (or 2 tbsp maple syrup)
- 3 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- Blend all ingredients together in a blender, scrapping sides down as you go, and adjusting coconut milk or crushed ice as needed for desired consistency.
