Super easy homemade guacamole
Just five simple ingredients, crushed together in about 10 minutes. It’s a super healthy, yummy and oh-so-natural preservative-free condiment.
Enjoy it with chicken, veggies or whatever you like. It’s also great in a leaf of lettuce with sliced veggies and/or chicken.
Each serving has about 4g of fibre and 7g of healthy fats.
Did you know?
- Carotenoids are plant compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. They’re found in sweet potatoes, carrots and leafy greens.
- Fat helps you absorb them. Research suggests the healthy fat in avocado may significantly increase carotenoid absorption, and many carotenoid-rich foods contain very little fat.
- Avocado has both. Try it with sweet potatoes or carrot sticks, or add a little to your chicken and vegetables meal.
- Vitamin B5: avocados are an excellent source of pantothenic acid, which plays a role in energy production and fat metabolism.
- Healthy fats: research suggests moderate amounts of good fats like those in avocados are not the problem. Trans fats and refined sugars are. The monounsaturated fats in avocados may help support heart health.
Why this matters in menopause
- Healthy fats and fibre: help keep you full and support steadier blood sugar.
- Heart health: becomes a bigger focus after menopause, when estrogen’s protective effects decline.
- Nutrient absorption: pairing avocado with colourful veggies helps you get more from them.
